Soft Idli / Idli  is a variation of the popular South Indian Cuisine Idli. It is a age old recipe. This rice cake ‘Iddalige’  is Originated from  (Chalukya Dynasty,  920 CE)Vijayapura a  place from Karnataka.

 It is made from Parboiled rice, Urad dal,  Puffed rice,  etc,.  Served with Sambaar, chutneys.

It is popular in South India. It can be found in all other parts of the country and overseas.

In South India, preparation of Idli varies from city to city.  There are variations in Idli like Mallige idli, Tatte idli, Rava Idli, etc,

About Soft Idli's

Idli or idly is a type of savoury rice cake, originating from South India, popular as a breakfast food in Southern India and in Sri Lanka. The cakes are made by steaming a batter consisting of fermented black lentils (de-husked) and rice. The fermentation process breaks down the starches so that they are more readily metabolised by the body.

Idli has several variations, including rava idli, which is made from semolina. Regional variants include sanna of Konkan.
